Wheel CHAIR MAN!! ¡ÁRunning Chairman with Wheelchair¡Á

A few days ago one of our employees (Mr. J) from the UK just got married and all of our employees except me went out on a little celebration party.

I¡Çve been told the climax of the celebration came after a beer garden at an Okinawan restaurant they found in a free paper.
Live music and dance which is original to the island is the main theme of this restaurant. I was told the place was popular amongst our employees and other customers that were there due to the live performances, food and the variety of alcoholic drinks.

As the singing performance started, the performers started singing a typical song of the region in English. It was definitely for Mr. J. As the performers were taking requests from other customers at the restaurant, all of a sudden the lights were dimmed and Mr. J¡Çs marriage was announced at the restaurant. As everyone stood up and cheered for him, an up-beat song started and everyone in the place was forced to dance.

Being in such a happy mood, Mr. J couldn¡Çt control himself and started dancing with the rest of the crowd that were also happy for him.

I could not participate in the party but from what I¡Çve heard I wish I could have been there. I believe that even though Mr. J lives in a country far away from his home town; my wish for him, is to meet with lots of nice people and that his marriage will be full of joy and happiness.

Long live the ¡ÈJust Married!!¡É

All of you may recall from my past blogs that two gentlemen and I started a new business through ¡ÈSecond Life¡É. One month has passed since the launch of Gobalink Island and lots of people are showing an interest in our business.

At our ¡ÈExhibition Site¡É that we have created, there are already companies exhibiting their products or services. As for the ¡ÈLanguage Exchange¡É area, there lots of Avatars from all over the world willing to learn and share with others their knowledge.

There is not much I can say for Globalink only exists for a month but the tendency of the users are to create unique Avatars or Avatars that looks exactly the same as the real-world user.

I am hoping that as time passes by, there will be more people using Second Life and that Gobalink will be a place in which people can share ideas, communicate, and an opportunity to expand businesss.

This time I want to introduce to everyone one of my eating habits.

3 years ago I started taking pumpkin-seed-oil as part of my diet in the morning. I just put a table spoon of the oil on to my bread or salad.

Sometime in the past, I read that pumpkin-seed-oil is rich in unsaturated fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals. These composites that are in the oil are known to be good for the prevention of organ problems, anemia, fatigue, prostate or urethra disorder.

As for myself; on the 3rd of January, I went to see ¡ÈThe Magic Flute¡É which is the last opera composed by Mozart. It includes both singing and spoken dialogs and it is one of his most popular operas. I must admit that I was able to have a wonderful and gorgeous time.

As we all know; due to my wheelchair, it is very difficult for me to just go from one place to another. Especially if it is an opera hall like the one I went to which is full of obstacles. I must thank the people who accompanied me because they made it possible for me to have a nice time.

I wonder if everyone remembers my blog last year in which I mentioned that I was going to start a new business using Second Life? (here)

In recent years the net has evolved so much that is amazing to me.
Now-a-days we are bombarded with information through the internet and I wouldn¡Çt be exaggerating if I say that it is almost impossible to live ignoring it.
You may also have noticed that there are lots of new services that firms provide to net users and one of them is ¡ÈSecond Life¡É.
¡ÈSecond Life¡É started about 4 years ago, and it¡Çs now that it¡Çs becoming a boom in Japan, due to increasingly faster internet connections and the recent release of the Japanese version.

Anyone can gain access to ¡ÈSecond Life¡É through the net and it¡Çs a three dimensional virtual world that is similar to our real world. As you can see by the title, you are able to have a second opportunity to live, this time in a virtual world using an ¡ÈAvatar¡É which is your persona that you can use to communicate with other people, run a firm, drive a brand-new car for free, or even fly around the virtual world.

In the ¡ÈSecond Life¡É virtual world, even a disabled person like me can freely move around, buy land that I like, create a building of my own and even start a new business. ¡ÈAnything is possible¡É is becoming a slogan for ¡ÈSecond Life¡É and if you actually see it, you will see that it¡Çs true.

To me ¡ÈSecond Life¡É is a world where you can make your dreams come true. Together with our outstanding staff and using the experience achieved in education, business and communication with people of the world, we are planning to be in ¡ÈSecond Life¡É starting next year. Also volunteer activities to help children will be a characteristic of our new adventure.
When the project becomes a reality, I would like to invite everyone to come and check it out.

I knew from the previous version of Windows XP that a voice recognition system existed but a rumor came to my ears that the new version of VISTA has a better response to the voice and I decided to give it a try. It¡Çs like a dream that a disable like me could get to use a computer. If I get to master the voice recognition; I would be able to read my mails without the help on anyone¡Ä. so I actually took my time in learning how to use the system.
Unfortunately, it did not satisfy me at all.

Normally when I use the computer is to write in English and it takes me about 3 hours to fill in an A4.
So when I set the voice recognition to run in English, it doesn¡Çt go as smooth as I expected. The main inconvenience is in the recognition of names in English and geographical places.(T_T)
I believe that there are many people that use their mouth or foot to write with the keyboard but I hope for a better software to be developed in the near future for people like us.(^_^)
If you have any information on a better software please let me hear your advice.

I was deeply impressed the story about one of our staff members. Because she has held down a mean fellow who had tried to molest her, and handed over him to the police.

This is how it happened:
On her way home from the nearest station by bicycle, a man on a bicycle called after her and was trying to touch her body as he asked the time.
After meeting the unexpected counterattack from her, he was arrested by the police officers whom the crowd that gathered around the called hustle has.

It was unfortunate for the criminal that she is a KARATE expertise or known as Japanese martial arts. It makes every thing clear why she could seize him quickly by the arm and hold him without any help from those around.

There was the possibility that the attacker could have acted violently or in the worst case to have weapons on him. The offender turned out to be a solid built young rugby player. Unfortunately, even though the nightmare is over, she said that she felt fear for a long time and sometimes suffered from sleepless nights.

When I heard the episode, I felt deeply proud of her. And, it made me eager to praise her and announce her brave act to a large number of people as much as possible.
Fellow gentlemen, are you aware that womankind become strong and tough? Please be careful not to count on your muscle and force too much.

I had a guest far from Guam the other day. He was one of the staff members of H.E.C. eighteen (18) years ago. He stayed at our home and lived with us like one of our family members and commuted to the office together for about one (1) year. His favorite food is Miso-Soup and salmon flakes with squeezed lemon which he had for every breakfast while he stayed with us.

The reunion after an interval of fifteen (15) years deeply impressed me and made me burst into tears.
I was relieved to see that he was in good health and has not changed a bit since the last time I saw him.

On the day of his arrival, we talked for hours about all kinds of matters including memories from the past. It made me feel as if I was traveling back in time to my good-all-days. I must admit that it made me feel young again.

He is an instructor working for a diving school in Guam and with in his group of students, he also instructs the disabled. Could it be destiny or mystery of life that I was going to meet again with a person that plays a role in an occupation that associates with my life on wheelchair?

I was delighted to hear that those who use a wheelchair and experiences diving can feel the sensation of floating in the air. By the same token, the blind can also experience the sensation of freedom due to the fact that they have fewer chances in bumping into obstacles.
He also instructs tourists from Japan and I have the confidence that they will fully enjoy diving under his instruction due to the level of his Japanese that he obtained as a result of his stay.

If you happen to stop by Guam, I hope that you pass by the diving school!!! If you happen to see an instructor that barely looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger, it would be him; Douglas, my old friend.

Recently, I took my second trip to Kyushu by airplane with my wheelchair.
I worried about traveling by plane because I had a bad experience on my last trip. However, my family did not give me any time to think about it and there was no choice but taking that airplane.

When I reserved the tickets, I told the air company that I am a wheelchair user and gave them detailed information about my level of mobility. However, at the airport I was asked the same questions such as ¡ÈAre you able to walk on the plane?¡É, ¡ÈCan you move from this wheelchair to the other one?¡É, ¡ÈIs there any problem by using the wheelchair on board?¡É and so on. Sometimes, I do not feel very happy when asked so many questions about my disabilities again and again. If the reservations department collects detailed and relevant information from each disabled passengers and pass it to the airport staff in advance, I do not see why I need to be asked same questions over and over. Sharing the information properly between reservations department and airport staff also helps to save time and reduce the stress or embarrassment felt by disable passengers. Dear airline companies, could you please consider finding a way to improve your service when you are dealing with cases like mine?

Now it¡Çs boarding time! An exclusive bus and lift for the wheelchair were prepared for my exclusive use. I was impressed by the great service provided by Itami Osaka Airport! Thank you very much! v(^^) Then suddenly, we saw a propeller aircraft in front of us!! My family looked very happy to see such a cute airplane and completely ignored my ascending to the plane. Thanks to the propeller, they were enjoying themselves taking photos while I was climbing aboard the plane by the lift. After one hour of comfortable(?) flight, we finally arrived safely at Saga airport in Kyushu.

Well, this next part of my life is called ¡ÈGetting off the plane¡É. I was told that two men were going to carry me with wheelchair and everything and put me out of the plane!! I was anxious about such a primitive method that Saga Airport proposed. Then, I asked the two men as a joke if they could give thier job to a pretty female flight attendant but one of them smiled and said to me, ¡ÈJust imagine me as a young pretty female flight attendant.¡É The two strong men lifted and carry me out of plane very quickly. (><)

This time, I have experienced the trip of propeller aircraft and its nursing services. Each facility has different quality and variety of services. The facilities and environments are not well established in the local area. However, thanks to the support of many people, I have enjoyed the whole trip and everything went through in a more comfortable way than I expected.
Trips might become safer and more enjoyable for the disabled people if companies increase the number of flight attendants and staff members with nursing license. Furthermore, it still will be so nice if a pretty flight attendant could carry me on her back! (Many thanks to the hearty male attendants ! ¢«from my family)

A lovely time of year has come. Dear wheelchair users, why don¡Çt you get out of your house and take a trip to refresh yourself? It is not so bad to feel outside and mingle with people.

We have developed a new product called ¡ÈIon Cooler¡É lately, which is a cooling gel sheet that contained of negative ion. It promotes the relaxation effect to the brain and whole body by applying the sheets on the back of neck or the part of joint pain where you have.
